Digital Cookie®—Terms and Conditions for Parents/Guardians of Girl Scouts

Welcome to the Digital Cookie® program! Parents/Guardians must agree and adhere to the below terms and conditions ("Parents/Guardians Terms & Conditions") in order for their Girl Scout to participate in the Digital Cookie program.
The Digital Cookie program is an opportunity for your Girl Scout to create her own Digital Cookie site where her customers can purchase cookies online. Girl Scouts will also be able to download the Digital Cookie mobile application which will enable Girl Scouts to access the Digital Cookie platform to process cookie orders via a smartphone or tablet (the "Digital Cookie Mobile App"). Girl Scouts will also learn and practice the five business skills (goal setting, money management, people skills, decision making, and business ethics) in a modern digital setting.
In addition, because your Girl Scout will be involved with managing and entering information associated with the program online, please carefully review the Privacy Policy before agreeing to these Parents/Guardians Terms & Conditions.
Your agreement to these Parents/Guardians Terms & Conditions constitutes your consent to the Privacy Policy and consent that your Girl Scout may participate in the Digital Cookie program.
I will keep my Girl Scout safe during her participation in the Digital Cookie program:
I will review the Girl Scouts Digital Cookie Pledge, Computer Online Safety Activity Checkpoint, and Girl Scout Cookie and Product Sale Safety Activity Checkpoint with my Girl Scout and make sure that she understands it.
I will play an active part in managing my Girl Scout's online and offline cookie activities while she is participating on the Digital Cookie platform, while ensuring that her activity is girl-led.
If my Girl Scout is under 13 years old, I understand that I am responsible for actively running and managing her Digital Cookie site, including responsibility for all content and information posted on her site.
I will review all the information on my Girl Scout's Digital Cookie site prior to approving her Digital Cookie site for publication to ensure that the Digital Cookie site adheres to these Parents/Guardians Terms & Conditions, as well as other related Girl Scout requirements.
I will make sure that my Girl Scout shares only her first name, troop number and council name on her Digital Cookie site. I will make sure that my Girl Scout does not share any personal information about herself, fellow troop members, cookie customers, or about any other person, including in any videos or photos (e.g., last name, phone number, email, address, school, etc.), on her Digital Cookie site.
I will make sure my Girl Scout does not directly message with people online or on social media platforms that she does not know.
I will review and approve the posting of any video to my Girl Scout's Digital Cookie site and ensure that she adheres to instructions provided by Girl Scouts of the USA for uploading videos. I will also ensure that my Girl Scout follows any other rules provided by Girl Scouts of the USA or her Council, including the Computer Online Safety Activity Checkpoints, about posting videos to Digital Cookie sites. I will post such videos consistently with these Parents/Guardians Terms and Conditions.
If I give permission for my Girl Scout to use the Digital Cookie platform or Digital Cookie Mobile App, I will make sure that my Girl Scout does not allow anyone, other than myself, to access or use the Digital Cookie platform or Digital Cookie Mobile App and that my Girl Scout does not share log-in credentials with anyone other than myself.
I will report the loss or theft of my or my Girl Scout’s mobile device on which the Digital Cookie Mobile App is installed immediately to my Girl Scout Cookie Volunteer.
I will make sure that my Girl Scout abides by the Girl Scouts Digital Cookie Pledge when using the Digital Cookie Mobile App and that she only uses the Digital Cookie Mobile App to process cookie orders and for no other purpose.
I will make sure that my Girl Scout does not post on any online resale sites (such as, for example, Craigslist, Ebay or Facebook Marketplace). I will not regularly post to social media websites about my Girl Scout’s participation in the Digital Cookie program.
I understand that my Council may impose additional rules on my (or my Girl Scout’s) use of social media under the Digital Cookie program and I will abide by those rules and ensure that my Girl Scout abides by them as well.
Parents/guardians should do the posting for girls under the age of thirteen. Girls who are thirteen or older may use social networking sites to market products but must follow council and GSUSA guidelines.
I will follow and ensure that my Girl Scout follows all safety guidelines related to Girl Scout product sales and deliveries during her participation in the Digital Cookie program. Including:
When selling or delivering cookies, an adult will supervise my activity, I will never enter a customer’s home and will only sell during daylight hours.
For Daisy, Brownie & Junior Girl Scouts, I will accompany her as she delivers approved orders and as she takes Digital Cookie Sales directly from customers.
For Cadettes, Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts, I will make sure she is supervised by an adult who knows how, when and where the Girl Scout will be selling. If an adult is not present, the adult must be readily accessible to the Girl Scout and should have the ability to be in telephone contact with her. Girls should never deliver or sell cookies alone
I will supervise my Girl Scout’s communications with customers.
I will ensure that my Girl Scout practices online etiquette (good manners) at all times when online, including not using inappropriate language, only sending emails to people that she actually knows and not spamming others.
I will ensure that my Girl Scout does not bully others online nor will I tolerate bullying during her participation in the Digital Cookie program.
I will ensure that my Girl Scout follows the rules of Internet sites, including those rules that are based on age of use and parental approval during her participation in the Digital Cookie program. I understand that neither Girl Scouts of the USA nor my council has no control over or responsibility for any of these other Internet sites.
I will ensure that my Girl Scout’s Digital Cookie site only contains appropriate content that she creates herself (and does not copy from someone else) in accordance with the Girl Scout Promise and Girl Scout Law.
If my Girl Scout wants to create a Vanity URL for her Digital Cookie site, I will be sure that the content is entirely her own and that she does not use the Girl Scout name or brand as part of her self-created vanity URL.
I will encourage the Digital Cookie program to be a girl-led activity. If my Girl Scout is interested in online or social media marketing, I will encourage her to review the Digital Marketing Tips for Cookie Entrepreneurs and their Families to find ideas and inspiration for activities she can try.
I will make this a pleasant experience for customers:
I will log into the Digital Cookie platform as needed throughout the sale to review and approve delivery requests, if applicable.
I will ensure that my Girl Scout delivers approved cookie orders to customers in a timely manner, if my Council participates in the in-person delivery option.
I will ensure that my Girl Scout escalates any customer question or issue to my Council in a prompt manner.
I will respond to any communications from Girl Scouts of the USA or the Council to which my Girl Scout belongs regarding the Digital Cookie platform in five (5) days or less.
Additional Digital Cookie Terms and Conditions:
I understand that my Council may impose additional restrictions relating to the Digital Cookie program and I will (and ensure that my Girl Scout will) abide by those restrictions.
I will be guided by the Girl Scout Promise and Law in all actions related to the Digital Cookie program.
The Parents/Guardians Terms & Conditions may be modified by Girl Scouts of the USA at any time by posting revised Parents/Guardians Terms & Conditions online. I understand that it is my responsibility to check periodically for any changes to these Parents/Guardians Terms & Conditions. I agree that my continued participation in the Digital Cookie program after any changes to the Parents/Guardians Terms & Conditions means that I accept the changes.
I understand and acknowledge that my Girl Scout’s Digital Cookie site or use of the Digital Cookie Mobile App may be temporarily or permanently disabled at the discretion of Girl Scouts of the USA or my Council for any reason including without limitation if there is a security-related issue, an issue relating to any content on any Digital Cookie site, an inventory fulfillment issue, failure to comply with these Parent/Guardian Terms and Conditions, if I use my site for spamming customers, if sales or marketing activity on or pertaining to my Digital Cookie site goes viral or otherwise creates unanticipated disruption, or other reasons in GSUSA’s sole discretion.
I also understand and acknowledge that I (a) have read the Privacy Notice, (b) consent to my child’s participation in the Digital Cookie platform, (c) consent to my child’s use of the Digital Cookie Mobile App (d) consent to Girl Scouts of the USA's collection, use and disclosure of information, including personal information, for purposes of the program and (e) My Girl Scout can receive an optional survey about her Digital Cookie platform experience.
All content on our Digital Cookie platform including the Digital Cookie Mobile App and videos and content from https://digitalcookie.girlscouts.org ("Content"), and the Digital Cookie platform itself, is the intellectual property of Girl Scouts of the USA ("GSUSA") or certain third parties and is protected by intellectual property law. GSUSA has listed below the permitted uses of the Content and Digital Cookie platform. GSUSA reserves the right to change our permitted uses at any time. Content is posted for personal viewing purposes only and may not be copied, reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, transmitted, or distributed in any way. Any modification of the Content or use of the Content for any other purpose is a violation of GSUSA's and/or third parties’ copyright, trademark, and other proprietary rights.
The Parent/Guardian acknowledges and agrees that all right, title and interest in and to any GSUSA-provided trademarks, GSUSA-provided content, and GSUSA-provided program collateral posted on the Digital Cookie sites, included in the Digital Cookie Mobile App and Digital Cookie platform or otherwise provided by GSUSA for use with the foregoing, including all related logos, designs, imagery and Content are proprietary to GSUSA and/or its licensors.
I understand and acknowledge that my Girl Scout must follow the Girl Scouts Digital Cookie Pledge.
Finally, I understand and acknowledge that if I do not follow these Parents/Guardians Terms & Conditions or if my Girl Scout does not comply with the Girl Scouts Digital Cookie Pledge or any of the materials referenced therein, including the Internet Safety Pledge, my Girl Scout’s participation in the Digital Cookie program may be terminated.
