Lake Erie Island Exploration: July TBD–TBD, 2023

Explore freshwater ecosystems and experience the majestic beauty of the Great Lakes alongside educators and researchers at The Ohio State University’s Stone Laboratory, the oldest freshwater field station in the United States.

About the Trip

You’ll spend the week at Ohio State’s Stone Laboratory, the oldest freshwater field station in the United States, located on Gibraltar Island in beautiful Lake Erie. The research lab serves as a base for more than 65 researchers from 12 agencies and academic institutions, all working year-round to solve the most pressing problems facing the Great Lakes, such as invasive species and algae blooms. Through excursions, field study, and hands-on activities, you will gain insider knowledge of freshwater ecosystems from active researchers and experts. You’ll also experience the beauty of the Great Lakes from your island home for the week!
