The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) are joining forces to support Girl Scouts’ overall mental well-being.
Through this multiyear partnership, NAMI will serve as a subject matter expert on the development of Girl Scouts’ mental wellness workshops for girls in grades 4–12. These workshops, launching in summer 2023, and made possible by a grant from HCA Healthcare Foundation, will help girls better understand mental wellness and provide them with skills to strengthen their resilience. The workshop for high school Girl Scouts will also equip girls with peer support techniques to help friends and classmates.
GSUSA and NAMI will also work together to strengthen local relationships between Girl Scout councils and NAMI State Offices and Affiliates. Through these partnerships, Girl Scouts and councils will have access to NAMI's local resources and expertise, both building the capacity to support Girl Scouts, volunteers, and families' mental well-being, and providing more resources and experiences to Girl Scout troops.
