Girl Scouts is proud to partner with Google to support the digital wellbeing of today’s girls. Together, we are helping families and caregivers navigate the complex digital world while empowering girls to develop healthy relationships with technology.

In partnership with Google, Girl Scouts has launched the digital wellbeing resource hub on Raising Awesome Girls, to provide families, caregivers, and girls with the tools they need to foster healthy online habits and strong mental wellbeing. The Co-branded Girl Scouts and Google resources feature content centered on real challenges and questions parents are searching for.

By educating and empowering families and caregivers to confidently guide their children’s online interactions, Girl Scouts and Google are laying the foundation for safer, more positive digital experiences for girls. This partnership also connects girls with Google volunteers and other supportive adults who can serve as mentors in their digital lives. Because girls are strongly influenced by their peers, helping them become digital leaders creates a ripple effect—promoting a more inclusive and uplifting online culture for all.

About the Research

In today’s technology-driven world, children’s safety and development are profoundly influenced by their digital experiences. There is increased concern among parents, caregivers, and other supportive adults about how to help their kids maintain safe and healthy relationships with technology. As technology is becomes more increasingly integral to our lives, it becomes is increasingly important that it enhances the children’s lives of childrens’children's experiences, not detracts from them.

Girls especially face a unique set of challenges in their relationship with technology. This makes it critical for them to develop positive digital wellbeing from an early age through engaging, age-appropriate activities and information that are shared and disseminated through a trusted adult source with adults that care for them, and within a peer group they can lean on. For girls, digital wellbeing is crucial for several reasons:

For girls, digital wellbeing is crucial for several reasons:

  1. Empowering Girls: Digital wellbeing equips girls with the knowledge and skills to navigate the online world confidently, critically evaluate content, and make informed decisions about their digital lives. It empowers them to use technology as a tool for self-expression, creativity, and connection, rather than being consumed by it.
  2. Protecting Mental Health: By learning to manage screen time, curate positive online experiences, and prioritize offline activities, girls can safeguard their mental health and well-being. Digital wellbeing can help them develop a healthy relationship with technology that supports their emotional and social development.
  3. Building Resilience: Digital wellbeing equips girls with coping mechanisms to deal with online challenges, such as cyberbullying and negative content. It helps them build resilience and develop healthy online habits that will serve them well into adulthood.
