Girl Scout Journeys are hands-on experiences designed for Junior through Ambassador Girl Scouts to explore their interests, develop life skills, and lead a Take Action project that creates lasting impact in their communities. Once Girl Scouts complete a Journey, they’re ready to pursue the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award, the highest honors in Girl Scouting. Journey requirements can be found on the Award and Badge Explorer. Volunteers and Girl Scout caregivers can also find the requirements in the Volunteer Toolkit.

Journeys will officially be retired on October 1, 2026, and in their place, Girl Scouts is launching fresh Leadership Awards for Juniors through Ambassadors! These new awards celebrate all the ways girls lead—themselves, their teams, and their communities. With flexible options, real-world skill-building, and no pressure to lead a certain way, these awards help Girl Scouts grow confidence, explore their leadership style, and make an impact on their own terms. Each award is represented by a beautiful new pin that captures the spirit of an awardee’s leadership exploration path.
So, what does the transition from Journeys to Leadership Awards mean for the Highest Awards? It means that Girl Scouts now have more ways than ever to get started on earning their Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award—it’s as easy as 1, 2, or 3:
- Level up. Already earned the Bronze Award or Silver Award? They count—each award now leads to the next Highest Award.
- Lead your way. Complete one of the new Leadership Awards—and check the prerequisite box. Win-win!
- Keep it going. Only one Journey is needed to meet the prerequisite (it used to be two for the Gold Award!), and any completed Journey will still count, even after Journeys are retired.
And for Daisies and Brownies? Leadership opportunities are here to stay. Through badges and service projects, Daisies and Brownies can explore what it means to lead, be kind, and make the world a better place—and continue to build confidence along the way!
